Wine Nutrition To Lose Weight

Looking at wine nutrition the calories and alcohol content, it’s difficult to imagine it being possible to drink wine and still lose weight.

But, thirteen years worth of research has found that people who drink a moderate amount of wine regularly (a glass a day not a bottle), are thinner than those who don’t drink.  

A Glass Or Two A Day

A recent study of 20,000 women was undertaken. All of the women were of normal body weight and over a thirteen year time period, there were impressive weight loss findings. The study reported that the women who drank one or two glasses of red wine per day were 30% less likely to be overweight than the non-drinkers.

It seems surprising that women who drink more would lose weight because of the calories they are consuming. However, Wine nutrition shows that when women drink, they create an enzyme to metabolize the digestion process for the alcohol.

This means, that whenever a women needs to digest a drink, they need to keep producing the enzyme which requires the body to keep using energy and women burn calories.  

Additionally, another theory of why women who drink lose weight is because alcohol burns calories because of the thermogenesis process. This process is where a person’s body temperature rises when they consume alcohol (this is where some people get red cheeks when they drink wine).

Does Wine Have Nutritional Benefits?

The study was conducted to include people who drank wine, beer as well as other liquors but the correlation with weight loss and alcohol was mostly linked to wine drinkers.

This isn’t as strange as it sounds as there have been many studies where wine nutritional information shows it has antioxidants and is low in cholesterol.  

These studies even show that wine is good for you where wine promotes longevity, reduced heart-attack risks, lowers the risk of strokes, heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Don’t Over Do It...

The studies also showed psychological differences between those women who drank wine and those who didn’t. 

The reasons are difficult to define but this recent study illustrated that those people who drank wine ate less food which meant that their calorie consumption was actually lower.

Wine information shows that one glass has about 125 calories, and whilst drinking a glass or two each night shouldn’t be a sole weight loss strategy, but drinking in moderation may not be as unhealthy as originally thought.

Having a glass, along with a healthy diet and exercise doesn’t mean you’ll be overweight.
