In this article, we will dive into what causes weight gain in your midsection as well as what you can do about it. If you are thinking that there is nothing that you can do to address this problem, don't worry. There are ways that you can "reboot" your health and get rid of that "spare tire."
There is no easy way to put it, unless you have a handful of pre-existing medical conditions, the root of obesity and weight gain in the abdominal region is a lack of diet and exercise. That is the bad news. But there is also good news is that diet changes and exercise will help you reduce your abdominal weight gain. Find additional advice here.
Too Many Calories and Not Enough Exercise
One factor that is of critical importance is the kind of calories that you consume. Fast food and processed foods need to be avoided. The number of different ways in which these foods are harmful are quite numerous.
For example, processed foods and fast foods are largely comprised of "empty calories" that don't give you the nutrition your body requires.
The end result is that you crave more food and more calories as your body seeks out the nutrition it needs. Reducing your abdominal region means getting rid of these unhealthy foods and replacing them with healthy choices like fruits and vegetables.
Stress and Weight Gain
It is difficult to overemphasis the importance of stress and weight gain, as there exists a very real link. Stress releases hormones, which cause a variety of reactions in your body, including abdominal weight gain.
Stress hormones also cause inflammation in the body, which can lead to fatigue and a general lack of energy. One way that many people seek to combat this fatigue is to eat more food. If someone is eating predominantly processed and fast food, which largely caused the problem in the first place, this can be a vicious cycle.
Losing Weight is Not Impossible
Losing weight is not impossible, and no dieter should see it that way. If you are looking to address your weight, then realize that your first and most important step is to stop eating processed and fast foods.
Surprisingly, this also includes eating processed diet foods as well. These foods are, after all, loaded with the very same "ingredients" that caused your weight gain in the first place.
In fact, sometimes there are even more chemicals and additives in diet foods than in other processed or fast foods. Get rid of the junk food, diet foods, sodas and diet sodas and you will be well on your way to stopping abdominal weight gain for good!
